MICHAEL ASH, DO, ND, BSc, RNT
|Michael Ash DO, ND, BSc, RNT has been in practice for over 30 years. Building one of the largest integrative medicine clinics in the southwest of England (he sold this in 2007), he embraced the concepts of functional medicine and employed them in his clinical development from 1991. Since 1992 he has researched the role of the mucosal immune system, especially in relation to the gastrointestinal tract and applied the emerging comprehension and relationships between the bacterial constituents and the immune system to his clinical needs. This clinical experience and intellectual rigor produced impressive clinical outcomes and as such he has presented in the role of ‘wet tissues’ in human health in 5 continents to thousands of clinicians over the last decade. Michael is an adjunct faculty member of the Institute for Functional Medicine and responsible for bringing the Institute’s professional training programmes to the UK and Europe. Michael is an experienced presenter able to convert complex mechanisms into comprehensible sections of information that resonate with clinical experiences. Author of numerous book chapters, articles and reviews as well as managing editor of Clinical Education a NFP group focussed on the intersection between foods, food concentrates, medicines and health. He works in a small specialist practice exploring the use of food substrates in the treatment of mucosal immune related disorders.|

MONIQUE CLASS MS, APRN, BC
Monique Class, MS, APRN, BC is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist in Holistic Health, and wellness educator at The Center for Women’s Health, where she inspires and supports patients of all ages to implement lifestyle changes to improve their health and well-being. Her special interests include well-woman care, adolescent gynecology, and optimal aging.
A sought-after teacher in the fields of holistic health and nursing, Monique is an adjunct professor at The College of New Rochelle Graduate School of Nursing, a clinical instructor for Yale Graduate School of Nursing, a senior faculty member of the Center for Mind/Body Medicine in Washington DC, and a faculty member for the Institute for Functional Medicine.
With extensive training and clinical experience in many therapeutic approaches including nutrition and mind-body therapies, Monique is also certified by the Psychosynthesis Institute in Imagery and is currently completing her training in Foundations in Herbal Medicine. She received her degree as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and her post-masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the College of New Rochelle and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from The University of Virginia.
JOEL M. EVANS, MD
Joel M. Evans, MD is the Founder and Director of The Center for Women’s Health, an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and a member of the core faculty of both The Center for Mind/Body Medicine and The Institute for Functional Medicine. He is a nationally recognized wellness expert, educator, author, and physician, specializing in nutrition, functional medicine, mind/body medicine and spirituality. Having pursued studies in spirituality, metaphysics, and personal transformation for many years, Dr. Evans has recently created a core curriculum designed to share ancient spiritual wisdom with others in order to help bring health and happiness into their lives.

ROBERT ROUNTREE, MD
Robert Rountree, ND received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill in 1980. He subsequently completed a three-year residency in family and community medicine at the Milton O. Hershey Medical Centre in Hershey, Pennsylvania, after which he was certified by the American Board of Family Practice. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Medicine. He has augmented his training with extensive postgraduate studies in nutritional and herbal pharmacology along with certification as a master practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Dr Rountree has provided his unique combination of traditional family medicine, nutrition, herbology and mind-body therapy in Boulder, CO since 1983. He has recently opened Boulder Wellcare, a private practice specialising in individual healthcare consulting. He is co-author of three books on Integrative Medicine, Immunotics: A Revolutionary Way to Fight Infection, Beat Chronic Illness and Stay Well (Putnam, 2000); Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child (Avery Publishing, 1994); and A Parent’s Guide to Medical Emergencies (Avery, 1997).
SHILPA P. SAXENA, MD
Shilpa P. Saxena, MD, a board-certified Family Practice physician, graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed her Family Practice residency at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida, where she served as Chief Resident and received an additional Certification in Low-risk Obstetrics. She is a Fellow of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, University of Arizona and serves as Clinical Faculty for The Institute for Functional Medicine. Dr. Saxena opened the SevaMed Institute early in her medical career, where she practices integrative and functional family medicine. She applies the core principle of ”Patients Powered by Knowledge,” achieving tremendous success by finding, treating, and reversing the root cause of illness. Her Center for Living Wellness offers advanced clinical lectures, healthy cooking classes, a community-based organic co-op, and fitness and yoga classes—all designed to help her patients to develop and expand their knowledge and implementation of healthy living. Dr. Saxena also has a blog—Medicine to Move You—on beliefnet.com, adding to her mission to move the masses toward better health. Her in-depth website, LivingWellnessUniversity.com, helps people make sense of the volumes of confusing, online medical information. She lectures nationally and appears on local TV and talk-radio shows.
